The Black Manhattan is a sophisticated evolution of the classic, where the spirit-forward spice of Catoctin Creek Roundstone Rye meets the dark, bitter complexity of an Amaro. This bold, elegant cocktail balances the rich sweetness of vermouth with aromatic chocolate bitters, delivering a deep, herbaceous, and soul-stirring experience. Served up in a chilled cocktail glass and crowned with a Luxardo cherry, it’s the perfect spirit-forward nightcap for any discerning palate.

Ingredients

  • 2 oz Catoctin Creek Roundstone Rye
  • 1/2 oz Amaro, such as Cynar
  • 1/2 oz sweet Vermouth, such as Noilly Prat, or Flying Fox Vineyards
  • 2-3 dashes of Chocolate bitters
  • Garnish – Luxardo cheery

how to prepare

Prep: Gather all ingredients, measure the Roundstone Rye, Amaro, and sweet Vermouth, and chill a cocktail glass.

Mix: Combine the measured Rye, Amaro, sweet Vermouth, and the 2-3 dashes of Chocolate bitters into a mixing glass.

Shake: Fill the mixing glass two-thirds with quality ice and stir continuously for about 20-30 seconds until the mixture is thoroughly chilled and perfectly diluted.

Serve: Double strain the chilled mixture from the mixing glass into the prepared cocktail glass (or coupe).

Garnish: Garnish the completed cocktail by dropping a single Luxardo cherry into the glass.
