Virginia Distillery Company

Virginia Distillery Company (VDC) is the largest dedicated American Single Malt Whisky distillery in the U.S., located in Lovingston, Virginia, surrounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains. Founded by Irish immigrant George Moore and now run by his son, Gareth, VDC is committed to defining and elevating the American Single Malt category.

Their philosophy is a blend of Old World tradition and New World innovation. They craft their whisky using 100% North American malted barley and fresh spring water, double-distilling it in hand-hammered copper pot stills imported from Scotland. Maturation takes place in non-climate-controlled cask houses, where Virginia’s distinct temperature swings (hot summers, cool winters) accelerate aging and influence the final flavor profile. VDC is known for its extensive experimentation with cask finishes, most notably with the Courage & Conviction line
