Mad Botanist

presented by James Orlanda

Ingredients:

2 oz. Waterman Spirits Strawberry Vodka

1/2 oz. St. Germain

1/2 oz. Genepi

1 oz. lime juice

3/4 oz. hot honey syrup

2 drops saline

Muddled cucumber and mint

Garnish: thinly-sliced cucumber and a strawberry slice

Preparation:

  1. In a shaker, gently muddle 2-3 slices of cucumber and 4-5 mint leaves. Be careful not to over-muddle; you just want to release their flavors.
  2. Add lime juice to the shaker.
  3. Next, add the *hot honey syrup, St. Germain, Génépi, Strawberry Vodka, a few drops of saline solution, and ice to the shaker.
  4. Shake well until all ingredients are thoroughly chilled.
  5. Prepare your serving glass (preferably a Collins or highball glass) by placing 2 thin slices of cucumber vertically against the inside of the glass.
  6. Fill the glass with fresh ice.
  7. Strain the mixed cocktail from the shaker into the prepared glass.
  8. Finally, garnish with a fresh strawberry slice.

*James’ hot honey syrup is house-made, but here’s a great hot honey syrup recipe to follow.
