Ingredients

0.75 oz Trail Whiskey by Appalachian Heritage Distillery & Brewery

0.75 oz Italian-style aperitivo (like Aperol)

0.75 oz amaro (like Amaro nonino Quintessentia)

0.75 oz tarragon apple citrus shrub*

 

how to prepare

Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice, shake vigorously for 10-15 seconds, then double strain into a chilled, stemmed cocktail glass, garnish with a dehydrated lemon wheel, and enjoy.

*Tarragon Apple Citrus Shrub

  • 2 granny smith apples, shredded
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup apple cider vinegar
  • zest of one lemon
  • juice of one lemon
  • handful tarragon, rinsed and finely chopped

In a 32 oz mason jar, combine all ingredients and refrigerate for four days, shaking daily. Strain through a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth, then refrigerate and use within six months.
