Zane Triplett, Dawn & Dusk

Ghost Frequency

Channel the raw, untamed roots of early stock car racing with this bone-dry, bootlegger-inspired martini. Marrying crisp botanical gin with traditional Virginia moonshine and a whisper of apple, this bold concoction honors the high-speed history of moonshiners outrunning the law on winding mountain passes.

Ingredients

  • 2 oz Virago Spirits Modern Gin
  • 0.25 oz Belmont Farms Distillery Virginia Lightning Corn Whiskey
  • 0.20 oz dry vermouth
  • 0.5 oz raw apple simple syrup
  • 2 drops black salt saline solution
  • Lemon oil

how to prepare

Prep: Gather your mixing glass, fresh ice, a chilled coupe or martini glass, craft gin, corn whiskey, dry vermouth, raw apple simple syrup, black salt saline solution, and a fresh lemon for oil.

Mix: Combine the gin, corn whiskey, dry vermouth, and raw apple simple syrup directly in the ice-filled cocktail mixing glass alongside the saline solution.

Stir: Stir thoroughly until the mixture is properly chilled and diluted, watching for a frosty exterior on the mixing glass to signal optimal temperature.

Serve: Strain the silky, chilled libation cleanly into your pre-chilled coupe or martini glass.

Garnish: Finish with a generous spray of fresh lemon oil across the surface and serve alongside Virginia apples, sharp cheddar or a warm country ham biscuit.
