Hill Top Distillery is nestled atop a misty hill in Maidens, Virginia, overlooking Tucker Park and the James River. Inspired by the region’s natural beauty, we handcraft fine Virginia spirits with patience, dedication, and respect for the craft.
Founded by native Richmonders with diverse backgrounds—a teacher, a mortgage professional, and a Marine—the distillery was built from the ground up, moving over 100,000 pounds of stone by hand, installing all plumbing and electrical work, and finishing the interior ourselves. Wherever specialized expertise was needed, we partnered with trusted local craftsmen.
Our spirits honor both local and global traditions. Virginia-grown corn, rye, and wheat form the heart of our recipes, while malted barley is imported from Ireland to deliver exceptional flavor. Evenings spent overlooking the glistening James River inspired our unique grain recipes, blending craftsmanship with a love of good food and fine spirits.
